FOOD BANK BOULEVARD

The Met, Bury

A THEATRE company is bringing a play which explores inner-city Britain in 2019 to The Met.

Billed as an irreverent satire, Food Bank Boulevard will be at the theatre on Wednesday, October 30, at 7.30pm.

The play was recently enjoyed by audiences at The Lowry, Salford Quays, and The Met’s show has been moved from The Box to The Derby Hall due to popular demand.

It tells the story of homeless man Stan, who sleeps rough on a bench outside the food bank – the area’s tenth.

When international conceptual artist Rollo Hollovici discovers a priceless piece of art in the community it promises to change everyone’s lives forever.

Will it be an opportunity to escape the daily grind or is it a poisoned chalice for Stan?

The play is being staged by MaD Theatre Company, which runs drama groups in Bury, Middleton and Moston - providing quality and affordable drama workshops for disadvantaged young people and adults.

Bury Times:

The aim is to help young people gain experience and skills in aspects of performance to increase their confidence, self esteem and life skills and to improve their education and employment opportunities.
