HUNDREDS of people are set to dance, walk, run and jog a neon night-time trail around Prestwich's Heaton Park.

Participants will adorn themselves in florescent clothing, luminous tutus and glow in the dark accessories as the annual Glow in the Park event returns on Saturday.

This year's 5k route comprises nine glow zones, including foam, paint, strobe lighting, lasers and a disco space.

A spokesman for the event said: "Glow in the Park are pleased to be at Heaton Park again for the fifth time on Saturday, October 26.

"Join us for a 5k fun run in the dark with music, foam and paint spray zones. See you there."

The event kicks off at 6.20pm with a start-line party and DJ, with participants setting off at 6.45pm.

Glowing contestants will undertake two laps of a 2.5km circuit, guided by flashing arrows and marshals, as well as the light from their head torches.

Many entrants will be raising money, either for the event's partner charity Royal Manchester Children's Hospital, or for another cause of their choice.

Hot drinks and food will be available to purchase, and spectators are welcome.

It costs £35 to enter as an individual, £31 for groups of four or more, or £29 for children aged six to 14.
