A fly tipper has been fined after they dumped waste on playing fields in Dursley.

The offender was captured on CCTV at the War Memorial Recreation Ground last month.

Dursley Town Council worked with Stroud District Council to identify the perpetrator and issue them with a £150 fine.

Alex Stennett, Chair of Dursley Town Council's green spaces committee, said: "Fly tipping is an unnecessary and unpleasant activity in this modern age so I am reassured that we can work with Stroud District Council to bring offenders to task."

Doina Cornell, Stroud District Council leader, added: "It's just not acceptable for people to dump rubbish in this way – they need to realise that there are proper ways to dispose of waste and that their actions could land them in trouble."

Councillor Simon Pickering, Stroud District Council's environment committee chair said: "This is great partnership work between town and district councils - together we can stamp out this unacceptable behaviour."
