A NEWSAGENT was raided by a gang of robbers ­— and a shopkeeper attacked in a terrifying ordeal.

M & H News in Bath Street, Bolton, was targeted by the gang this morning.

The newsagent was raided by four men who attacked a shop worker, The Bolton News understands.

The men entered the shop at around 6.35am and are said to have attacked the man soon after.

A report was made to the police, who arrived on the scene and remained for several hours, investigating the attack.

Police officers taped off the newsagents and guarded the shop with a police van and police car.

Witnesses said the store had been ransacked.

It is not known at this stage what was taken or if the gang have been caught.

Greater Manchester Police have been contacted for comment.

Just a few months ago, another newsagent was hit by a violent attack, in which a cash machine was seized.

In June, the owner of Go Local newsagents in Wigan Road, Westhoughton, said he ‘lost everything’ after masked thugs smashed the front of his store and ripped out a cash machine.
