A main road through Glasgow's Govan has been cordoned off after a serious one car crash.

The public are being advised to avoid Govan Road following the crash, which has left one vehicle overturned.

Police, fire and ambulance crews are on the scene to deal with the incident.

It is not yet clear if there are any injuries.

A spokeperson for Police Scotland said: "We were made aware at around 12.05pm of a one vehicle RTC where a car has overturned. 

"Police, fire and ambulance teams are in attendance. 

"The road remains closed."

A council spokeperson added: "Govan Road is currently closed to all traffic between Water Row and Golspie Street(East) junction due to an earlier accident.

"Emergency services are currently in attendance and road users should avoid the area if possible.

"Further updates will be issued when more information becomes available."
