BE on your guard, a flesh eating plant has been set loose in Bury.

Take a trip down Skid Row as Whitefield Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society prepare to devour audiences with a stunning production of the classic musical Little Shop of Horrors.

Exploding in popularity following the 1986 film starring Rick Moranis and Steve Martin, the well loved musical, which has wowed audiences on Broadway and The West End, is now at The Met.

Set in a dilapidated neighbourhood, the gothic show follows a florist shop worker who cultivates an extraordinary plant which feeds on human flesh and blood.

Packed with crowd favourite songs including Grow For Me, Suddenly Seymour and Skid Row, the musical is sure to consume the hearts of theatre goers.

Director Mal Wood said: “Little Shop of Horrors is such a fun show that I’m sure a lot of people have seen, so we’ve tried something a little different.

"The plant, Audrey II will be a massive puppet that, at full size, needs five puppeteers to bring to life.

"We’re also focusing a lot on colour, bringing the stage to life and really making the audience feel like they’re part of the flower shop."

The production follows a successful run of Jesus Christ Superstar in 2018 by Whitefield AODS which has been entertaining audiences with musicals since 1922.

Mal said: “The cast have worked so hard, all of them have day jobs yet come to rehearsals on evenings and weekends and give their all. It really is a show not to be missed.”

The show runs at The Met from October 16 to 19 and tickets are priced £16.
