A SUPERSTAR youngster and his family have raised hundreds to help other children in need of healthcare around the region.

In May this year Horwich Day Nursery attendee Alfie was playing at home when he suffered a terrible accident resulting in over 12 per cent second degree burns to his face, arms and chest.

He was rushed to Manchester Children’s Hospital where he spent eight days on a high dependency unit burn unit.

Thankfully Alfie is now on the mend and to show their appreciation his mum Samantha Hanna and dad James Hall decided they would like to their bit to support the unit.

Ms Hanna immediately set up a fundraising page with the aim of donating £500 to the hospital which she managed to raise by doing a daunting skydive.

Horwich Day Nursery also threw themselves into the efforts to raise cash and awareness, hosting a special sponsored day where the youngsters were invited to attend in their pyjamas.

Together with Alfie’s family their combined efforts raised a total of £1087 for the hospital unit.

Mrs said: “It's safe to say we are absolutely speechless and cannot say thank you in the right way to even express the gratitude we have to all the parents, friends, family and nursery staff."

Sheen Dad, proprietor of Horwich Day Nursery, added: "We will always strive to help our children in any way we can, and from myself and everyone at the nursery we would like to say thank you to everyone who got involved to help Alfie and raise money."
