A MEMORIAL event is set to take place in honour of a loving father - who was stabbed to death a year ago today.

Tarro ‘Taz’ Grogan was fatally wounded by knife-wielding Dylan Slater in a violent confrontation at a house part in Peridot Close, Blackburn, on this day in 2018.

Slater was later jailed for eight years and three months at Preston Crown Court for killing Mr Grogan, after pleading guilty to manslaughter.

Now on the anniversary of his death, friends and family have arranged memorials to honour the former cage fighter.

Ahead of the event at The Havelock pub, his sister Cherish Duckworth said: “Please invite everyone who knew Taz to come along for a drink or 10 in memory of him and to celebrate his life with his family, along with a balloon to release on the night.

“The release will happen at around 6pm so we’d appreciate it if everyone can come before that.”

Those attending are asked to bring blue balloons to be let off into the sky in his memory. Mr Grogan’s former mixed marital arts club, Blackburn Predators, is also hosting a training session in his memory.
