BURGER and fries will be on the menu for a gourmet chef when she appears on a Channel 4 cooking programme.

Lisa Goodwin-Allen, the executive chef in charge of the kitchens at the Michelin-starred restaurant at Langho’s Northcote Hotel, is to feature on Snackmasters next week.

The programme will see presenter Fred Sirieix continue his challenge to some of the nation’s top-drawer chefs, which is to work out the secret techniques and recipes behind some of the country’s best-loved snacks.

And Mrs Goodwin-Allen will be tasked with recreating Burger King’s much-loved Whopper burger and fries.

The Michelin-starred chef will be up against two Michelin-star chef, Claude Bosi from Bibendum in Chelsea.

They will find themselves using all their professional skills to recreate not only the flame-grilled burger but also the bun, the fries and the dressings.

And they are set an additional challenge which will see them go head-to-head in a Burger King restaurant to deliver their burgers in the fastest possible time.

Speaking on the programme after learning of the challenge, Mrs Goodwin-Allen, who has been head chef at Northcote’s kitchens since 2004, said: “You look at it, it’s a burger isn’t it?

“You think it’s not that hard to replicate but it is.

“Thousands and thousands of customers get the same burger day-in-day-out.

“It’s really interesting.”

During the programme she also described herself as ‘quite meticulous’ in style when devising a dish.

She said: “It’s about kind of closing your eyes, saying can you taste every flavour on there and do you want to back and eat more?”

The winner is decided by a panel of the fast food chain’s top employees.

Comedian Jayde Adams will also go behind the scenes at Burger King factories to reveal the real process behind The Whopper.

Snackmasters airs on Tuesday, October 15 at 9.15pm.
