THE search for missing Accrington dad Scott Pharo has been called off - after a body was found.
The news was confirmed on social media on Wednesday evening - two days after he was reported missing.
Police said they were growing increasingly concerned about the 35-year-old on Tuesday.
He had last been seen on CCTV waking towards Accrington Victoria Hospital - carrying a grey rucksack - at about 12.45pm on Monday after leaving his car on Haywood Road.
Family, friends and local residents had joined in the search for the missing man.
Tributes have been paid to the much-loved father on Facebook.
Hyndburn Police had placed appeals for people to look for Scott on Facebook and Twitter but have now removed the posts.
A spokesman for Lancashire police said: "Officers looking for a missing man have found a body.
"It was found on the afternoon of October 9 in woodland off Burnley Road, Hapton.
"The body has yet to be formally identified but it is sadly believed to be that of Mr Pharo. His family have been notified.
His death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the Coroner.
"Our thoughts are with Scott’s family and friends at this extremely sad and difficult time.
"Thank you to everyone who took the time to share our appeal."
