AUTUMN is now upon us and the weather is getting colder but there are still plenty of fun events taking place in East Lancashire this weekend.
Here is our pick of five of the best to enjoy on Saturday and Sunday.
1. Darwen Food Festival
HEAD to Darwen town centre for the town’s annual food festival on Saturday.
Organisers want people to join them for a wonderful event filled with great food, fantastic drinks and plenty of entertainment throughout the day.
Mouthwatering food on offer during the day will include cakes, pies, Chinese, Indian, sweets, chocolate covered fruit, Greek Gyros and cheese.
While live music and children’s entertainment and drinks are just some of the things you can expect from the food festival.
The festival takes place between 11am and 8pm and is free to attend.
2. Fun Palace, Clitheroe Castle, Ribble Valley
VISIT the second ‘Fun Palace’ on Saturday at the historic Clitheroe Castle.
The event is made by local people for their own communities, bringing together arts and sciences, crafts, tech and digital, free and fun, linked by the Fun Palace network.
The event takes place between 11.30am and 2.30pm and is free to attend.
3. Briercliffe Gin and Beer Festival
ENJOY a collection of exotic gins and real ales this weekend at Briercliffe Gin and Beer Festival.
Beer-lovers can also enjoy a live band on Saturday night and hot food will be available.
The festival is at Briercliffe Social Club from 6pm on Friday to 11pm on Sunday.
4. Darwen Library Theatre comedy
FANS of live stand up comedy are in for a treat on Saturday when Darwen Library Theatre starts delivering the cream of the UK and international comedy circuit to their doorstep.
Comedians including MC Raymond including Micky Bartlett, Lindsey Davies and Paul ‘Silky’ White will all feature.
Doors for the event, which is one of three taking place up until December, open at 7pm and it starts at 8pm.
5. Day out with Thomas at East Lancashire Railway
FAMILIES can join Thomas the Tank Engine at the East Lancashire Railway for a train ride unlike any other.
There will be a whole host of fun and games at this family fun event, including Thomas themed activities and tabletop games.
The event takes place at the railway on Bolton Street, Bury, on Saturday and Sunday between 9am and 4pm.
