A SESSION to help businesses navigate immigration and workforce changes brought about by Brexit is set to be held in Bury.

The business strategy session will examine the UK Settlement Scheme, how it works, who needs to apply and impacts on employers' right to work check requirements.

It will also discuss no deal immigration arrangements for EU citizens arriving after Brexit, including European Temporary Leave to Remain and recruitment from within the European Economic Area (EEA).

Attendees will also be able to find out more about proposed future changes to the UK immigration system and the Migration Advisory Committee recommendations due to come in to force on January 1, 2021.

The event is one of a series of Brexit business support and advice sessions for SMEs taking place across Greater Manchester over the coming weeks.

Organised by GC Business Growth Hub and other partners the event will provide an opportunity for business owners to ask questions and receive advice on a range of areas where they may need to make changes ahead of Brexit on 31 October.

Richard Jeffery, GC Business Growth Hub director of business growth, said: “We understand that many SME businesses from a variety of sectors will have many questions and concerns about what they need to do to ensure they are Brexit ready.

“We are encouraging SME business owners to attend these sessions to help make sure they are as prepared as they can be, from support for their specific business challenges, through to understanding how a no-deal Brexit may impact. It is our priority to ensure SME businesses in the Greater Manchester area have the help they need to get ready for Brexit.”

The Bury session will take place in The Lancaster Room at Bury Town Hall in Knowsley Street from 10am to 12pm on October 1.

The session will be hosted by Bury Council and the content is supplied by Squire Patton Boggs.
