MICHELLE Pearson, the mother of the "Walkden Angels", is to be laid to rest this morning.

The mum was the victim of a horrendous arson attack on her home in Jackson Street, Walkden, in December 2017.

Her four youngest children, Demi, aged 15, Brandon, aged eight, Lacie, aged seven, and Lia, aged three; all died as a result of the blaze.

Ms Pearson was critically injured in the fire, suffering severe burns, and despite fighting her injuries bravely for more than a year and a half her family announced on September 2 that she had died.

Hundreds of people are expected to attend a memorial service and funeral for Ms Pearson today.

A procession is to make its way to St Paul's Church, Walkden, along Jackson Street and Bolton Road, for a service commencing at 12pm.

Among the cortège will be five horse drawn carriages — four carrying flowers to represent Ms Pearson's children and another carrying Michelle.

It will also comprise a band, followed by family limos and close relatives and friends on foot.

Earlier this month Ms Pearson was remembered by the community when hundreds of friends and family gathered outside her home in Jackson Street, Walkden.

The crowd held a minute’s silence before hundreds of balloons were released, followed by a touching round of applause.

Candles and flowers were left outside the family home, along with emotional messages to Ms Pearson and her children.

The Pearson family home was targeted with a petrol bomb attack in 2017 as part of an ongoing feud between Michelle's 17-year-old son, Kyle, who escaped the fire and another group.

Zak Bolland was jailed for life last year after being found guilty of murdering the four children, as well of three counts of attempted murder.

His friend David Worrall was also handed a life sentence after being found guilty of murdering four children but found not guilty of three counts of attempted murder.

Bolland's then girlfriend Courtney Brierley was found guilty of manslaughter and was given 21 years in a young offenders’ institution.
