A MUM-OF-TWO wants to get the public's help to try to bring back some happy times to one of Blackburn's main parks.

Danielle Clay is a member of the Corporation Park Supporters Group and wants people to send in their pictures of the Preston New Road park for a photography competition.

The 43-year-old has happy memories of the park and wants people to help bring back the glory days to the site.

She said: "I used to live near the park.

"I am a bit devastated by how the conservatory is looking and as a group we are trying to get it repaired but it is quite a big job.

"We need to look at having more CCTV in the park so that we can reduce anti-social behaviour there."

"We are just having to raise money to get it going and we have had some positive meetings with the council about it.

"However, we want to re-instate it and have local colleges and educational trips there and increase the footfall to the park.

"So we have come up with the competition for people to take photographs in the park.

"It is something positive and we will display the photographs at a later date at the main entrance in a gallery."

There will be prizes for the competition with the £60 for the winner, £30 for the runner-up and £10 for the third-placed entry.

All of the entries will be looked at by a team of independent judges.

Danielle added: "There is so much history in the conservatory and in the park and I have such happy memories there and I am sure other people have the same.

"It is still a beautiful park and lots of people use it so much but it is in need of improvements.

"We want to work together to try to get people into the park again and it is one of the main ones in Blackburn.

"Even if people don't live near it they are still drawn to Corporation Park."
