A WALKING club is taking the the countryside for an upcoming ramble.

Nature lovers are invited to join the Bolton Ramblers in their upcoming Horwich to Haigh Circular, taking in some of the borough's most picturesque sights.

On Sunday, September 22, join the club on a 12-mile walk starting from Horwich Parkway Railway Station.

After crossing the railway line and the M61, the walk explores the open countryside between Horwich and Blackrod before heading south to Haigh Hall and the Leeds & Liverpool Canal.

It then passes through Kirkless Woods, once an industrial wasteland and now a peaceful Woodlands Trust site, and across farmland to Borsdane Woods before heading back past Brinsop Hall and across fields back to Horwich Parkway.

The walkers will meet at 10am at Horwich Parkway. This walk is free and there is no need to book. Just turn up with suitably sturdy walking gear and a packed lunch.
