CHURCHES will be open to visitors for Heritage Weekend.

Guided tours and specialist talks will be given at the Parish Church of St Mary in Radcliffe.

It will be open between Friday, September 13 and Sunday, September 15, from 10am until 4pm.

Visitors will be able to enjoy refreshments, which include cream teas on Saturday.

Parishioner Margaret Embrey said: “We have had the church open for many years for the heritage open days .

This year’s event is entitled Past Heritage Weekend Events, with small displays from each of the previous five years.”

At Bury Parish Church visitors can climb up to the gallery, visit the bell tower, view the records, registers and vestments and enjoy refreshments with a Victorian theme in the coffee shop.

At St Mary's in Prestwich, new heritage interpretation boards will help visitors check out the progress of the restoration project at the Grade 1 listed church.
