GUN shots were fired in Hilden Street, police have confirmed, after residents reported hearing the sound of gun fire yesterday afternoon.
Officers were called to the residential street in The Haulgh at around 5.55pm and found evidence of "firearms discharge", a police spokesman confirmed.
The area around the street was cordoned off and an investigation has been launched.
The spokesman added: "There will be extra patrols in the area and if anyone has any concerns please speak to officers."
