A RALLYING call has been made for people to step forward to be part of the on-ward team at Chorley and South Ribble Hospital, working alongside medical staff to support patients living with long term conditions such as dementia.

It comes from the Royal Voluntary Service and say the work can make a huge difference to the patients, visitors and staff they support.

Kim Snape, Service Manager at Royal Voluntary Service said: “We are asking people to step forward for just a couple of hours a week; any time you can give makes a huge difference. It doesn’t matter if you’ve never worked or volunteered in a hospital environment before; we provide a comprehensive training programme and are on hand to support you every step of the way.

“If you’re someone who likes to keep busy and would like to help others, you’re just who we’re looking for. Our volunteers are amazing and really enjoy what they do, and benefit from volunteering every bit as much as the people they help every day. We are hugely grateful for all support we receive.”
