INCREDIBLE footage shows the moment an underground electrical explosion damaged a section of pavement.
An electrical cable buried underground at Trinity Street, near to Bolton Train Station, exploded on Friday morning.
Fire crews were called to make sure a fire did not break out.
Traffic was disrupted on the road as the electricity board worked for an hour and a half to isolate the power.
Dave Greenwood, a firefighter from Bolton Central fire station, said: “The explosion lifted the flags on the pathway.
“We were there to support the electricity board until they isolated the power. No one was injured.”
A spokesperson for Electricity North West said: “A fault on an underground electricity cable in Bolton at 9:29am caused a power cut to 89 customers.
“For safety reasons, the local fire service attended site after receiving reports of smoke and alerted us at 9:50am.
“Our engineers attended site and were able to restore power to all customers within the hour at 10:16am.
“If anyone needs any more information during a power cut, they can follow Electricity North West on Twitter or Facebook for updates, see our live power cut map at www.enwl.co.uk, or call us free on 105.”
