Darwen's 1940s Day is back on Saturday, after torrential rain and winds postponed the previous full line-up.

Taking place in Darwen's Market Square from 10am until 4pm, the sun will hopefully shine brightly for the town's tenth annual celebration of the decade know as 'the war years'.

Organiser, Samantha Taylor said: "The town council pride themselves on organising events in the town centre and with the new Market Square fully finished, the 1940s Day is set to be a great success."

Live entertainment comes from Rachel Mercer, The Chicago Teddybears, Harri Deane, and A Tribute to The Legends of Swing.

There will also be military vehicles, a Punch and Judy show, Facepainting, Balloon Modelling and children’s crafts.
