PUPILS at St James’s were left jumping for joy at their GCSE results.

A number of students celebrated grade 9s, the highest possible grade, with Rachel Duff and Huzaifa Umar getting eight and seven respectively.

In September, Rachel will be going to Loreto College in Manchester to study A-levels in maths, biology, chemistry and music.

She said: “I’m really happy I wasn’t expecting any of this.

“These are quite important because I want to do medicine so hopefully these put me on the right track.”

Huzaifa Umar said he did better than he could have ever expected.

He added: “I’m ecstatic. I’m over the moon.

“It’s better than expected. I was so nervous this morning. My heart was beating quick, I couldn’t even eat breakfast. I couldn’t eat last night either and barely got any sleep.

“English was my weakest subject and I got an 8 and Geography I thought I messed the exam up but I got a 9.”

Huzaifa will study maths, business and computer science at Runshaw College.
