THE Brexit Party has announced former nurse Andrea Livesey as its prospective parliamentary candidate for the Bury South at the next General Election.

The mother of three daughters retired as a manager in November 2018 after 36 years working in the NHS.

Bury South’s MP is currently Ivan Lewis elected for Labour in 2017 now sitting as an Independent.

He has yet to decide if he will stand again.

Ms Livesey said: “I’m not a career politician, I’m a hard working member of my constituency. People have local concerns they want to see being heard and addressed year round not just when an election comes around.

“Bury itself voted overwhelmingly to Leave in 2016 with Bury South voting 54.51 per cent ‘Leave’.

“Mr Lewis himself voted ‘Remain’ in opposition to his constituents.

“I strongly feel that MPs don’t get to choose which votes they respect. Three years on my constituency - like the country - has been let down by party tribal politics.

“People deserved better.

“Peoples votes have to mean something in a democracy and be respected, instead of MPs thinking they know better.”
