A SPECIAL event was held to mark the end of celebrations of the 140th anniversary of Bacup’s museum – originally called ‘The Muck and Flea Club’.
Bacup Natural History Society Museum in Yorkshire Street, Bacup, has been transformed in recent years thanks to three Heritage Lottery grants. The final celebration of the Sharing Heritage Grant saw people examining Victorian specimens of fossils and bugs through microscopes. Secretary Wendy Watters: “This is the end of five years work, but hopefully the transformation of The Nat will carry on. It is not just about getting funding, it is about carrying on bringing new people into the museum, forging links with schools and uniformed groups and hopefully they will keep on coming to the museum and get involved.”
