A peace vigil was held to highlight the plight of the people of Kashmir.
The event outside the Town Hall in Blackburn heard from councillors and activists and was organised by the Kashmiri Association of Blackburn and supported by Drive4Justice, Blackburn with Darwen United United Against Racism, the Lancashire Council of Mosques and ILM.
The Peace Vigil took place on the same day as national events and demonstrations.
Speakers included Wajid Khan, Sajjad Karim and Cllr Mohammed Khan.
India has imposed an unprecedented security lock-down to try to prevent any violent reaction in Kashmir to its downgraded status. Protests and clashes have occurred daily, though the curfew and communications blackout have meant the reaction is largely subdued.
The Peace vigil came about after an earlier meeting between several community groups and activists in the town's Kashmiri Association.
