HOMEOWNERS are being warned to be on their guard against thieves after a spate of break-ins in Prestwich.

Officers covering the town have reported a number of daytime burglaries in the area around Scholes Lane.

In a tweet they urged householders to ensure all windows and doors are locked before leaving and set their house alarms.

Prestwich fell victim to another similar series of burglaries earlier this year.

At the time police said: "Offenders are targeting rear doors and windows. Please ensure that your side gates are locked.

"Please lock up even when you are inside. Report suspicious activity to the police."

If you see any suspicious activity you should contact Greater Manchester Police on 101 or via the live web chat reporting facility at crowd.in/xYjnxm.
