Two Thwaites shirehorses, Bomber and William, took a 25-mile trot out to Blackpool in 1969.
Their trip was to publicise the Royal Lancashire Agricultural Society's first ever spring show.
The horses were driven by foreman Pat Flood and the dray was expected to have six stops of ten minutes so the horses could rest and drink some water.
