THE Brexit party has announced its candidate for Hyndburn at the next General Election.
Ex-soldier Gregory Butt, 60, from Great Harwood will stand against sitting Labour MP Graham Jones .
The veteran of the Falklands War, awarded an MBE in 1998, was a school bursar until he broke his back paragliding .
During his long convalescence he volunteered with the probation service to help young offenders overcome problems in their lives.
Mr Butt said: “My military service has given me a particular understanding of the UK’s world standing and confirmed the importance of the Commonwealth in re-establishing international trade links.
“I believe my traumatic accident and recovery taught me humility and that everybody deserves a second chance.” It also imprinted on me the need to protect the NHS and the principle of healthcare free at the point of entry.”
Mr Butt is a keen fly fisherman and hill walker. He lives with his Accrington-raised partner Sara.
