FIREFIGHTERS rescued a man from a van which had toppled on to its side after a two vehicle smash.
Crews from Whitefield Fire Station were called to the M60 junction 18 clockwise at 12.30am.
The collision involved the van and a Toyota Yaris, which had three people in.
The Yaris was able to pull up to the side of the motorway.
Crews used a step ladder to rescue the man in the van. And a man in the backseat of the Yaris was helped out by firefighters after fears he may be suffering from neck injuries.
Watch Manager Tony Wellock said: "We removed the car doors from its hinges to get the man out and he was taken to hospital.
"Police were already on the scene and the motorway was shut for a short time."
Three fire engines were mobilised to the scene and crews remained at the incident for an hour.
