HERE is a round-up of five events taking place across Bury over the next week.

Enjoy a day out with Thomas

THOMAS the Tank Engine will be steaming into the East Lancashire Railway this weekend.

The children's TV favourite will be available to carry passengers along the tracks on Saturday and Sunday.

Little engineers will also be able to meet the Fat Controller, see performances from cheeky station sweepers Rusty and Dusty and watch re-enactments of classic Thomas stories.

The Day Out With Thomas event will also feature magic shows and circus workshops, with The Fat Controller's opening ceremony taking place at 9.45am, and activities finishing at 4pm. For details or to book visit www.dayoutwiththomas.co.uk.

Grab car boot bargains this weekend

BARGAIN hunters will be in their element at a car boot sale due to take place in Ramsbottom this weekend.

The weekly Sunday car boot, from 11am until 4pm, is held at the Railway Street car park beside the East Lancashire Railway, between April and December.

It costs £11 per bay to sell items, or £17 for food traders, who must have a valid food hygiene certificate and public liability insurance.

An afternoon of play

AN event dedicated to children will be staged in Ramsbottom’s Nuttall Park.

Families are invited to make the most of various activities “to celebrate children’s right to play.”
