TWO lucky youngsters have bagged themselves a haul of incredible prizes thanks to their super art skills.

Nine-year-old Archie Crook and 10-year-old Sara Shahid have been named as the winners of an extra special design a cupcake competition, launched by the Bury Times and the Mill Gate Shopping Centre.

This year marks the Mill Gate’s 27th birthday and in honour of the occasion the Bury Times asked school children to come up with their own creative cupcake design with a birthday theme.

Dozens of submissions were entered and Bury Times readers then voted for their favourite designs before the lucky winners were revealed.

Archie and Sara have each scooped the prize of having their colourful creations turned into real life cupcakes.

They have also won £100 each to spend at the Mill Gate.

Both winners were ecstatic with their prizes.

Archie said he could not wait to taste the cake but hoped there would be some left as he had promised lots of slices to his friends and family.

Sara added that she was really surprised to win but was looking forward to buying more art supplies to feed her creative talent with her winnings.

A presentation for both winners will take place at the Mill Gate Shopping Centre’s summer event on Saturday, August 3.
