THE summer holidays in the sunshine . . . everyone loves them.

And when the sun is out there's no finer place to enjoy the outdoors than in the local park.

These pictures from the 1950s and 60s show Boltonians doing just that.

Some of the pictures are taken in local parks, and some are at holiday parks in Blackpool and Prestatyn.

The picture on the bottom left shows Bolton Children Committee visiting Squires Gate at Blackpool to see how Hollins cottage homes children are enjoying their summer holiday in June, 1951.

On the right are pictures of children walking the dog in the park in the 1960s and a wheelbarrow race in the park, in the1950s.

The picture on the left was taken in summer, 1966 and is of holidaymakers headed for North Wales, for a Hi-de-Hi style break in Prestatyn.

Below is a picture of children enjoying a Punch and Judy show, in the summer of 1965.

And the picture bottom right was taken two years later, in Moss Bank Park in 1967.

If you have any pictures of Bolton in the summer time from yesteryear, why not take a quick picture of them with your smartphone and email them to pictures@theboltonnews.co.uk.

Tell us where and when the pictures were taken and we can publish them in next week's edition. Go on, get out that old photo album and let us all have a smile at pictures of day gone by.
