NEW plans to build five homes on the edge of the borough’s green belt have emerged.
Developer SER Contractor Ltd has submitted outline proposals for the detached homes on land north of Chelwood Close in Astley Bridge.
Initial plans for five homes less than 200 metres away, to the north of Templecombe Drive were submitted earlier this year.
While the site itself was not classified as green belt, it is located 470 metres away from a protected site which is considered to be of “special scientific interest”.
Ward councillor Paul Wild told The Bolton News that he was “completely” against the development, adding that he would request that the planning committee decides the outcome rather than leaving it to planning officers.
However, those plans were withdrawn by the applicant, NC Architecture, in April.
Under the latest plans, a new road would be built linking the development to Wincanton Drive.
