A MISS Teen Great Britain finalist is using her rising profile to raise money for a charity close to her heart.

Ribble Valley school girl Layla Abbott, who is from Rossendale, will undertake various fundraising activities for Together for Short Lives, which is a the UK’s leading charity for the 49,000 children living with life-limiting conditions, and their families.

Miss Abbot, who is 15 and goes to Oakhill School in Whalley, said: “I did not think I would get this far.

“I’ve always been into this kind of thing and I want to represent Rossendale and raise money for the charity.

“I want to be a model when I’m older and also open my own beauty business.”

Her mum, Khadijah Abbott, said: “I’m really proud of her and what she has achieved.

“She found out about it through a family friend and signed up.

“She’s enjoying it and loves to raise money for charity.”

Miss Abbot is also hoping to find a sponsor for the final which will take place at The Village Hotel in Blackpool, on Sunday, October 20.

The different stages of the pageant will see the teenager glam up and take part in photoshoots.
