A DAY of green-fingered fun is coming to Whitefield.

Eden Gardens Allotments in Derwent Avenue will host its annual summer open day from noon to 4pm on Sunday.

Through out the day there will be produce, plant and hanging basket sales, as well as a sale of home made jams and honey, plus a cafe and barbecue serving food and drinks.

There will also be plenty fun activities for all ages including raffles and tombolas, traditional rustic woodcraft, face painting, a visit from a fire engine and arts and crafts including pot painting and lava lamp making.

Bill Smethurst of Eden Gardens Allotments Association said: “Less than one week to go until the Eden Gardens Open Day and we look forward to seeing all our visitors. Fun and games for children and adults both.

“Pray for good weather but we will go on regardless so, if there’s a little rain get your wellies on.”

Eden Gardens Allotments was recently awarded the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service and will receive the accolade at Gorton Monastery on August 28.
