BREXIT will not affect Greater Manchester hospitals as much as other parts of the country.

Around three per cent of staff in the region's hospitals are EU nationals from outside the UK.

Jon Rouse, chief officer of Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership, was asked whether leaving the EU has affected hospitals at a scrutiny meeting last week.

He said: "Clearly, it will impact more in the future and it will impact more depending on how we exit.

"Greater Manchester is less affected than other parts of the country because only three per cent of the work force are from EU nations. Nevertheless, there is an impact."

Last year, two per cent of staff working for Bolton Hospital NHS Foundation Trust were from non-UK EU countries, according to The Bureau of Investigative Journalism.

At the same time, only 1.8 per cent of staff working for Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust, were from non-UK EU countries.
