A MAN remains in a serious condition after a daylight shooting in a industrial car park on Friday.

A cordon remains in place at the scene of the incident, which took place just before noon.

Police say investigations into the crime are ongoing and have launched an appeal for witnesses to the information.

Businesses in the area are hoping the cordon will be lifted sometime today.

A man, said to be in his 20s, is thought to have been shot as he waited in a car close to the Outline Health and Fitness Centre in Lever Street.

Police said soon after the shooting they believed the attack to be targeted.

Yesterday, a spokesman confirmed the latest update on the condition of the victim was "serious".

Since the shooting, there have been a number of rumours including arrests but a spokesman said that no arrests had been made in connection with the incident.

And people have reported that the victim had also been granted police protection, but the spokesman for the police said they could not confirm or deny that.
