Auditions take place on July 14 for an upcoming play at Chorley Little Theatre

Alan Ayckbourn’s Woman In Mind will be performed in October at the venue with Cassandra Moon in the lead role.

Now Chorley Amateur Dramatic And Operatic Society (CADOS) are holding open auditions for the rest of the parts.

The play is written from the point-of-view of Susan, a vicar’s wife who escapes into a fantasy world after a bang on the head.

The parts up for grabs are for her ‘real’ family and her ‘fantasy’ one.

Men in their 30s or 40s are needed for Bill, a nervous Doctor and Gerald, the vicar who has some of the best comedic lines.

Twentysomethings are wanted for the roles of Tony, Susan’s imaginary brother, Rick, Susan’s real-life son, and Lucy her imaginary daughter.

The cast is rounded out by Muriel (40s), a walking catastrophe, and Andy, the fantasy husband - great cook, sportsman, rich and charming.

Like many of Ayckbourn’s plays, the parts are complex but require a light comic touch.

All materials will be supplied on the day, with auditions starting 1pm. More details can be found at www.chorleytheatre.com

Meanwhile, there’s a double-bill of true-life tales on Chorley Little Theatre’s cinema screen soon.

On July 20, the documentary Five Seasons goes behind-the-scenes with acclaimed garden designer Piet Oudolf as he creates his latest landscape in Somerset. Known for signature public works in New York, Chicago, and the Netherlands this film immerses itself in his creative process.

The following day, Ryan Gosling stars in the dramatised account of Neil Armstrong’s mission to the moon called ‘First Man’.

Showing exactly 50 years after the Apollo 11 astronauts stepped on the moon this film is an exciting first-person account of the cost and sacrifices of getting there.

Both films start 7.30pm, tickets are £5, and can be booked at Ebb and Flo Bookshop, Gillibrand Street, or check out the website www.chorleytheatre.com.
