A PROBE is taking place following two suspected arson attacks in Blackburn.

Two men have been arrested and charged for the attacks at Ice Blast on Whalley New Road, but officers continue to appeal for information about the incidents.

Police were first called to the shop at around 4am on June 4 to reports of a fire in which the shop front, including the metal shutters and wooden framing, were damaged. Two days later at around the same time, two men were alleged to have tried starting a fire at the front of the same property.

The men were disturbed and made off from the scene.

After enquiries, two men were later arrested and charged in connection with both incidents

Det Con Shanaz Kone, of Blackburn CID, said: ““While we have charged two people, we continue to ask anyone who can assist our enquiries to speak to police.”

Martin Jackson, 42 and Christopher Dickinson, both of Heaton Street, Blackburn were charged with attempt arson with intent to endanger life and arson with intent as to whether life was endangered. Both appeared at Blackburn Magistrates’ Court on June 13.
