FIREFIGHTERS were called to a rural street late last night after police discovered a car on fire.
A fire engine from Bolton North station rushed up to Stones Bank Road, in Egerton, to find flames engulfing a black Toyota Yaris which appeared to have been abandoned.
Watch manager John Wheeldon said his crew were able to extinguish the fire soon after arriving at the scene - at around 3am - but that the car was "100 percent destroyed".
Police are yet to confirm whether the fire is being treated as suspicious.
