THE latest hyper-local party to spring up in Bolton has been stopped in its tracks.
An application for a political party under the name of Bolton People First has been rejected by the Electoral Commission.
The "incomplete" application was submitted shortly before the last local election in May.
The Bolton News understands that it came from an individual who has run as an independent candidate in previous council elections.
New hyper-local parties around the borough now have seven councillors at Bolton Council.
Farnworth and Kearsley First formed only months before taking their first council seat last year and inspiring other parties to follow their lead.
Horwich and Blackrod First Independents won both wards they contested at the last election.
It was their first election since they were formally recognised as a party by the Electoral Commission following months of delays.
Westhoughton First Independents was also created by town councillor Jack Speight this year.
