AN East Lancashire road has reopened after a serious accident this evening.
Emergency services rushed to the scene of a crash on the Pennine Road in Bacup at around 6pm this evening.
The road was closed between Sandfield Road and Gladstone Street for around three hours.
Eye-witnesses report seeing an air ambulance landing near the scene, and unconfirmed reports suggest a young boy has been airlifted to Alder Hey Children's Hospital in Liverpool.
A police spokesman said more details will be provided as soon as possible.
