A CCTV still of a man has been shared after armed men targeted a workmen's club in the Elton area of Bury.

Three men — one of whom was armed with a crowbar — forced their way into Elton Fold Workmens Club in the early hours of the morning.

Police are investigating and want to speak with a man in connection with the burglary at the club in Leigh Lane.

The invaders fled the scene empty-handed. However, they caused damaged to the premises, prompting a response from businesspeople and members of the community who rallied round to help.

No one was inside the building during the time of the break-in between 4am and 5am on Tuesday, May 7.

One of the men is described as wearing tracksuit bottoms with a stripe, a hooded top and a dark mask.

A second man is described as wearing a padded jacket or body warmer, tracksuit bottoms with a stripe, trainers and a dark mask.

Officers say they are keen to speak with the man pictured in the CCTV image in connection with the burglary.

The club shared the following post on Facebook in the immediate aftermath of the break-in: "The club was unfortunately broken into during the early hours of this morning.

"Happy to say everybody is ok and we will be open as usual this evening, thanks to the hard work from Nigel Royster at NCR Electrical, our Bar Manager Paula, our Vice President Jack, Bob Nuttall and his lads from Fensters, Dave from Atlantis Alarms, John Pendlebury and Paul McNamara.

"Great team work guys, keeping our club going.

"Onwards and upwards."
