THIS was the dramatic scene after a car burst into flames in a Bury street.
Firefighters were called to the incident in Hornby Street, close to the junction with Birch Street, shortly before 1pm yesterday.
Images posted on social media showed the vehicle engulfed with flames moments before fire crews arrived.
Firefighters managed to put out the blaze, but the car was left badly damaged.
Police are also understood to have been called to the fire, although it is not yet clear how it started.
GMP have been approached for comment.
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called at 12.51pm to a vehicle fire in Hornby Street, Bury.
"A fire engine from Ramsbottom attended the incident and firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two hose reels to extinguish the fire.
"Firefighters were on the scene for approximately an hour."
