A FIRE ripped through a bedsit in the early hours of this morning.
Firefighters were called to Suthers Street in Radcliffe just after 1am when other residents living in the building raised the alarm after noticing smoke was coming from the flat, which at the time was empty.
They alerted the emergency services and resident living in three other bedsits evacuated the building
The cause of the fire which caused "significant" damage to the flat and left others smoke damaged — is now under investigation.
Crew Manager James Cheverton said: "Neighbours had already had evacuated the complex which had four flats.
"Neighbours saw the smoke. The cause of the fire is under investigation but it did cause significant damage to the flat."
