A SUCCESSFUL 2018/19 season has ended for Kirkby Lonsdale Netball Club with excellent league performances across the board.

Kirkby Foxes were undefeated in winning the Lancaster Netball Winter League whilst Kirkby Devils and Kirkby Dragons were both placed in the top five of their divisions.

The club has grown from strength to strength this year more than 130 players taking part in all forms of netball, including Hi5, Walking Netball, Junior Netball, Back to Netball and Competitive Netball.

With three teams competing in the Lancaster Netball Winter League and one team in the Cumbria League, it is one of the largest growing netball clubs in the area.

Earlier this year, the club were fortunate to gain financial support from the Cumbria Community Foundation and the Russell Armer Fund.

In addition, the club also won an award from Skipton Building Society’s Grassroots Giving 2018 which has vital in helping purchase much needed equipment.

“Without this funding and support we would not have been able to offer the variety of netball that we do,” said coach Kim Bradshaw.

“Netball is one of the fastest growing sports in the UK and it is important that we have the means to provide somewhere for young players to go and for them to see that sport can be played at any level and at any age.

“We train every Thursday, starting with Hi5 and Walking Netball at 5pm, followed by Junior Netball at 6pm and then Back to Netball and Competitive Netball from 7pm.

The training schedule starts in September, but Walking Netball is continuing on a weekly basis over the summer from 5pm - 6pm and the club have recently started a friendly mixed netball league on Thursdays from 7pm.

If anybody is interested in joining the club or would just like to come and give it a try, they are invited to get in touch through their Facebook page.
