ANOTHER north-west freight firm has fallen under the umbrella of Burnley's EFS operation.

Ten takeovers have now been notched up by the Phoenix Way venture with the arrival of FWD Freight Services into the fold.

An undisclosed sum was handed over for the Liverpool-based firm, just weeks after EFS also scooped up fellow Merseysiders PDQ.

Mark Jones, EFS managing director, said: "We are delighted FWD Freight Services, led by Fred Duenbier, is now part of the EFS Group.

"It is one of the leading freight forwarding businesses in the UK so is a natural addition to our portfolio of companies.

"Our focus is now on making sure it’s business as usual for FWD's staff and clients but with the added benefits that come with being part of our group."

The acquisition was aided by law firm Davis Blank Furniss.

Sonio Singh, one of their associates, said: "Once again we were pleased to help the senior EFS Global team secure this key acquisition and continue their exciting growth strategy."

The deal follows on from takeovers of the likes of Euro SDB, 747 Express Freight, Logictrans UK Limited, RTS Refrigeration, CS Brunt, Horizon Distribution, BradTrans International, Euro-Tran Despatch and JRS Traction since 2010.
