BOSSES at the Pendle Hill Landscape Partnership has said its has had a successful first year.

Most of its 14 projects are up and running and have helped to raise awareness of the area's landscape and heritage, the organisation said.

A partnership spokesman said work is set to continue in the next three years, with projects launching in the second year including the Pendle mobile hut at the end of May, which will tour the borough and provide information.

Other projects include an installation of the Pendle radicals trail, celebrating notable thinkers and activists from the area.

The production of village treasure trail leaflets in Barrowford and Sabden.

The creation of a new bridleway linking Chatburn and Downham, as well as the refurbishment of the information barn in Downham.

A programme of free outdoor learning events for schools and toddlers, and for families during half terms and summer holidays will be made.

A partnership spokesman said: "The annual gathering event, which will showcase much of this work and how to get involved is to be held in Brierfield on Saturday May 25.

"This is your chance to find out more about what the Pendle Hill project has been up to so far, and what opportunities there are to get involved now and over the next three years."
