BUS services in Blackburn and Ribble Valley will be affected as the result of industrial action tomorrow (Tues).

Drivers working for Stagecoach are walking out as part of a pay dispute involving their Lancashire staff.

Union bosses say staff based in Preston, and covering several routes in East Lancashire, earn more than £1 an hour less than colleagues at other garages in the region.

Tomorrow the 24 Blackburn to Chorley bus, the 1A between Longridge and Preston and the 4 route from Longidge to Preston will not run.

The 59 bus between Blackburn and Preston is not expected to be affected.

A Unite North West spokesman said: "Our members are angry at being treated as the 'poor relation' and earning over £1 less than colleagues driving for Stagecoach elsewhere in the north west."

A Stagecoach spokesman said: "Due to forthcoming proposed industrial action, we regret to inform customers that our services in South Lancashire will be disrupted."

The first strike day was last Saturday and further stoppages are scheduled for Saturday, May 25, Tuesday, May 28, Friday, May 31 and Saturday, June 1.
