LOSTOCK AC's Paul Lacey and Claire Shewbridge headed to the capital at the weekend for the biggest running event in the UK, the London Marathon.
Running for his chosen charity, the British Heart Foundation, Lacey bettered his sub-four hour time at the Greater Manchester Marathon to finish in 3hrs 59mins 16secs, while Shewbridge turned in another strong time of 4:06:57.
After the race, both described how amazing the whole experience had been.
On the banks of Loch Lomond, Ian Taylor did the Highland Fling – a 53-mile, 7,500 feet of ascent, ultramarathon around the loch and the Trossachs National Park in a time of 14:34:23. Also North of the border were Anthony Maxwell and Sheila Garewal who completed the historically-located Stirling Half Marathon in 1:56:31 and 2:05:06, respectively.
In the Yorkshire Dales, Albert Sunter completed the Fellsman 60-mile, 11,000-feet ultramarathon starting in Ingleborough and taking in the summits of Ingleton, Whernside, Dodd Fell and Buckden Pike before finishing in Threshfield.
Sunter was part of the first-placed V50 team, though times are yet to be confirmed.
Nikki Hamerton recorded an overall time of 1:30:58 at the Kendal Castle Spring Triathlon with swim/bike/run splits of 10:54/51:30/25:55 respectively, and there were personal bests of 26:26 and 26:34 for Jocelyn Chadderton and Ian Burns at Bolton parkrun.
