FIRE crews have urged residents to store their wheelie bins securely after a string of bin fires.

In the latest incident, at around 7.30pm, a wheelie bin was take from a property in Arnesby Grove in Tonge Fold and dragged into nearby woodland before it was set on fire.

Firefighters also reported that there was evidence of other fires in the area.

Following the incident, firefighter Craig Jacobs, from Bolton North firestation, advised resident to take simple steps to prevent similar such incidents from happening.

He said: "We are asking resident to please put their wheelie bins away after they have been collected and store them somewhere secure.

"Bins should be kept away from the road and only put out for collection."
